Youth Ministry Lab April 7-8 2017

Breakout Sessions

Girls Ministry Conference

Sessions for leaders who want to launch or expand a comprehensive girls ministry.

7:45 PM - Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird - "Project Beauty: Unpacking God's Design for True Beauty and Lasting Worth"

After a brief experience in the modeling industry, Kristen and Bethany’s eyes were opened to the immense pressure modern girls face to be “picture perfect.” The endless cycle of never measuring up and never being pretty enough sends many teen girls on a downward spiral which ends with depression, eating disorders, and overwhelming levels of insecurity. After searching for answers themselves, Kristen and Bethany discovered a version of beauty that offers lasting worth and hope in this area. This informative session will equip you with answers, practical tools, and biblical truth to help every young woman who has ever wondered, “am I pretty enough?”

9:00 PM - Kristen Clark and Bethany Baird - "Guys and Romance: Helping Teen Girls Navigate their Love Life"

True love. Guys. Romance. Just ask any teen girl what she talks about with her friends and these topics are sure to be high on the list. As former boy-crazy-girls themselves, Kristen and Bethany know what it’s like to flirt for attention, dress to turn heads, and do whatever it takes to get their crushes to notice them. Speaking from personal experience, along with 10 years of working with teen girls, Kristen and Bethany unpack the ever-present insecurities that modern girls face. Filled with Biblical truths, practical tools, and enlightening statistics, this session will equip you to better love and mentor teen girls in the areas of guys and romance.

11:00 AM - Bonnie Scasta - “How Girls Become Confused about Their Gender”

1:15 PM - Candi Finch - "Are You Weary from Doing Good?"

2:30-3:30 PM - Dream Session

All adults from one church (girls ministry leaders, student ministers, and volunteers) will meet together. Under the direction of Southwestern’s Justin Buchanan, leaders from that church will pull together all they have experienced at Lab—and will dream together about changes they want to make at home.

Girls ministry leaders who attend Lab alone will join a small group of leaders from similar churches—to do similar dreaming about changes at home.
